Uponor’s New Radiant Hydronic Controller Garners K/BIS Top Product Pick for 2008

During the Kitchen and Bath Industry Show (K/BIS) held April 11-13, 2008, at Chicago’s McCormick Place, Hanley Wood product editors searched through aisles and aisles of new products to find the most creative, innovative and interesting products for 2008.

And Uponor is offering one of them.

The Climate Cŏntrol™ Multifunction hydronic controller caught the industry professionals’ attention with its streamlined, less time-intensive approach to installing controls for radiant heating and cooling systems.

Instead of creating specific individual controls for domestic hot water, mixing, snowmelt, boiler staging and zone pumping, all of these and other functionalities are now handled by this single, easy-to-use, programmable control.

This new product eliminates the need for multiple controls on a wall and all the accompanying wiring complexity, reducing product costs as well as design and installation time.

The controller features simple, plug-and-play Cat5 wiring for sensors and connection boxes, rather than conventional multi-strand thermostat wire. As a result, it is also more consistent with current home-installation practices.

The Climate Cŏntrol Multifunction measures 13"H x 9½"W x 1½"D, and includes eight generic input and eight generic output connection points. To set up a particular control, the installer simply keystrokes the needed functionality into the five-button, four-line, 16-character display on the front of the unit.

Additionally, a portable data stick for storing upgrades and system configurations is also available. This allows the same functionalities to be quickly and easily loaded onto other systems, saving valuable programming time.
