Environmental Design and Construction Magazine Recognizes the Purple Pipe for Advancements in Water Conservation Efforts
During the 2009 Greenbuild International Conference and Expo held in Phoenix Nov. 11-13, Uponor AquaPEX® Reclaimed Water Tubing won the 2009 Water Conservation Readers’ Choice award from Environmental Design and Construction magazine.
Uponor AquaPEX Reclaimed Water tubing offers all the benefits of Uponor’s PEX-a tubing for potable-water applications — flexible, durable, corrosion-resistant, 20-year proven history in plumbing, 25-year limited warranty — with a layer of purple coloring to designate the tubing for greywater systems, helping home and commercial building professionals incorporate sustainable building practices and meet LEED® or National Green Building Standard™ points.
In a greywater system, water is captured from sinks and showers into a holding tank where it goes through a filtering process. Then, specially designated purple tubing — the industry standard color for reclaimed water systems — distributes the filtered, reclaimed water from the holding tank out to laundry, toilets and irrigation systems.
Uponor AquaPEX Reclaimed Water tubing is listed to NSF-rw and AWWA C904 and uses Uponor’s proven ProPEX® fitting technology for fast, easy, reliable connections without the need for torches, glues, solvents or gauges.
Uponor AquaPEX Reclaimed Water tubing is available in ½", ¾" and 1" 300-foot coils and is also backed by a 25-year limited warranty when installed by an Uponor-trained plumbing professional.
